CDE Events

These require the student to learn a new way of learning to study the many aspects of the agriculture industry. As a chapter, we provide several teams to take to the state-wide competitions. These teams include:

• Florticulture
• Light Horse Judging
• Livestock Judging
• Job Interview
• BIG (Best Informed Greenhand)
• Creed Speaking
• Extemporaneous Public Speaking
• Prepared Public Speaking

These teams and more require real dedication and time to prepare for the several events. Students participating in these events need tools and knowledge of the ag industry to do well in the contest of their choice.

BIG (Best Informed Greenhand)

In this contest, greenhand degree recipients are tested on the knowledge of the FFA. The test consists of 100 questions and are answered on a scan-tron that will be scored and placed according to the score. The top 5 scores receive awards. This experience is great for greenhands to learn more about the FFA and its history.

Florticulture

In this event, students will be asked to judge, identify, and construct a floral arrangements and corsages. Classes include potted foliage classes, flowering potted plants, flowers and floral arrangements. Students are to give oral reasons on class placement.
